Google opens Gemini 4 Argon to Nigerian subscribers

Google has broadened access to its latest AI model, Gemini 4 Argon, enabling eligible users to manage detailed, multi-step tasks. Announced on October 13, the model is now accessible to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers via the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. Developers can utilize it through Google’s API and AI Studio. This expansion allows users to leverage the model’s capabilities for complex tasks, such as software development, document analysis, and creating interactive visual tools, though access remains restricted to paid subscribers and selected developers.

Developers can reach Gemini 4 Argon via the company’s application programming interface (API) and the AI Studio environment. The model is engineered to manage operations that require several linked actions, such as handling large collections of documents and producing functional code snippets.

Availability and Cost

Google AI Pro is priced at ₦28,500 per month for users in Nigeria, while the Ultra tier ranges from ₦89,000 up to ₦289,000 depending on the chosen level.

Those students also have the option to upgrade to Google AI Pro with a 75% discount on the regular rate. Additionally, Google also offers a local Google AI Plus plan, a lower-tier consumer plan available for ₦7,700 per month and a student discount for eligible Nigerian university and polytechnic students to access Google AI Plus free for 12 months, or upgrade to Google AI Pro at a 75% discount for ₦7,100 per month.

Developers may also employ the model through the Gemini API, where the introductory charge is $2 for every million input tokens and $10 for each million output tokens. After November 30 2026, the rates will increase to $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens.

Capabilities and Applications

Gemini 4 Argon can be applied to tasks such as organizing extensive academic material, comparing findings across multiple documents, and creating visual explanations for difficult concepts. Researchers may use the model to explore large, detailed datasets and test hypotheses, though any conclusions will still need independent verification.

Offer for Scientists and Researchers

The company is providing 10,000 scientists and researchers with six months of access to the highest usage tier on Google Antigravity, its AI-powered development platform. The programme aims to support work in scientific problem-solving, software creation, and data analysis.

Users should also avoid uploading sensitive business records, personal data, or confidential research material without proper safeguards.
