Samsung offers gift card with new watch preorders

Samsung’s newest premium smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, is now available for preorder—and buyers will receive a $100 Amazon gift card with their purchase. The offer brings the effective price down to $699.99, a 13% discount from the original $799.99 retail price.
The deal is live on Amazon and applies to preorders placed before the watch ships on August 7. Those who wait until launch day will pay the full price without the bonus gift card.
Battery life and rugged features lead the upgrades
The Ultra2’s 800mAh battery is about 35% larger than its predecessor, promising up to 60 hours of use with the always-on display enabled. On lighter settings, Samsung claims it can last three days between charges. While still not a replacement for dedicated outdoor watches like Garmin, the Ultra2 is built for durability.
It includes dual-frequency GPS, trail-run tracking with elevation data, hydration guidance, and a titanium case. The watch is rated for 10ATM water resistance, carries an IP69K dust and water protection rating, and meets EN13319 dive certification standards. A new NB-NTN satellite connectivity feature allows users to send messages or make calls without a cellular signal.
The 47mm AMOLED display now reaches 5,000 nits of brightness, up from 3,000 nits on the previous model. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, optimized for AI tasks. Despite the larger battery, Samsung says the Ultra2 is 12% thinner and features a lighter strap for improved comfort.

Who should consider the Ultra2—and who shouldn’t
The Ultra2 is positioned as Samsung’s most rugged and long-lasting smartwatch, targeting users who prioritize outdoor performance over basic fitness tracking. For those who spend time hiking, running, or in remote areas, the satellite connectivity and extended battery life could justify the higher price.
But for casual users who mainly want notifications, sleep tracking, and step counts, the Galaxy Watch 9 remains a more affordable alternative. It lacks the Ultra2’s durability and battery advantages but delivers similar core smartwatch functions at a lower cost.
The $100 gift card sweetens the deal for early buyers, effectively reducing the price to match the Watch 9’s typical sale range. Still, the Ultra2’s premium features come at a premium price—even with the discount.
If the gift card is used toward future tech purchases, the net cost could drop further. But buyers should consider whether they’ll actually use the Ultra2’s advanced outdoor features—or if they’re paying for capabilities they won’t need.
The preorder window closes when the watch ships next month. After that, the price returns to $799.99 with no additional incentives.
