Chowdeck Delivers 100 Million Items in Five Years

Nigerian delivery startup Chowdeck has reached a significant milestone, delivering over 100 million items through more than 30 million deliveries, just as the company approaches its fifth anniversary. Co-founder and CEO Femi Aluko announced this achievement, highlighting the company’s rapid growth since its launch in October 2021.
Aluko shared the news on X, noting that 80% of these deliveries occurred in the last 20 months. This surge in activity coincides with Chowdeck’s expansion beyond restaurant meals into groceries and daily essentials.
Groceries Drive Growth
Chowdeck’s grocery segment has seen remarkable success. In June, they delivered over ₦1.5 billion worth of groceries, accounting for 11% of total business. This growth reflects the increasing demand for quick commerce solutions.
Initially a minor venture, groceries now play a major role in Chowdeck’s offerings. However, this expansion has brought challenges. Aluko acknowledged issues with out-of-stock items and delivery delays, highlighting the complexities of grocery logistics compared to restaurant orders.

Investment and Infrastructure
To support its growth, Chowdeck secured $9 million in Series A funding in August 2025, led by Novastar Ventures and Y Combinator. This investment will enhance their grocery operations and infrastructure.
Founded by Femi Aluko, Lanre Yusuf, and Olumide Ojo, Chowdeck connects customers with restaurants, grocery vendors, and merchants through its app, simplifying access to essential goods and services.
Aluko’s Vision and Challenges
Femi Aluko expressed gratitude to customers, riders, vendors, employees, and partners for their role in Chowdeck’s success, calling the past week a “week of multiple wins.” He emphasized that the company is just beginning, with ambitious plans ahead.
